TASTING & HOW TO
Bildimoo Buku Abel Ethiopia. Heirloom. Natural.

Every bean has a story

This lot originates from Hambella Wamena in the Guji Zone, specifically Dimtu town, Buku Abel Kebele. It is the outcome of coffee cherries from around 500 local farmers. Essentially, the farmers bring their cherries to the Buku Abel Washing Station for processing.

Funded in 2019, Buku Abel is a washing station located in Guji. It sits at 1900 - 2100 masl, on a small hill with optimal sunlight exposure, cold wionds, and rich, fertile, red soil. The neighboring farmers deliver their cherries at around midday and sort them until the late afternoon.

The farmers’ average plot size is between 0.5 - 2 hectares, with semi-forest and garden type of vegetation. There are approximately 1800 - 2400 trees per hectare, with each tree estimated to produce around 3 kg of cherry. The varieties growing there are Heirloom.

Bildimoo Buku Abel from Ethiopia falls into the “Bildimoo” flavour profile. Bildimoo translates to clay soil and a shade of red in the Oromiffa language. Essentially, this concept represents coffees that are lactic.

Highland Coffee Development

This coffee is exported by Highland Coffee Development (HCD), founded in 2018 by two brothers, Ermias and Ephrem Eshetu. From the Southern and Southwestern Oromia region of Ethiopia, where coffee is deeply woven into the local lifestyle, they take pride in honoring their roots through the coffee they export.

If you enjoy coffees from Ethiopia, we have you covered! We currently have four Ethiopian coffees, including our other Heirloom coffee, Aricha.
